Sierra de Juárez Corridor

As part of the California - Baja California border region. Sierra de Juárez harbors ecosystems and species that occur nowhere else on earth. The integrity and functionality of ecosystems in the border region, as well as the health, economy, and standard of living of its residents, depend on a system of open space reserves that are interconnected across the international border. Rancho Rodeo del Rey

In 2004 we completed our first conservation contract protecting 4,450 acres of Ranch Rodeo del Rey, located within the ejido Laguna de Hanson. Read more »

Sierra de Juárez & Sierra San Pedro Mártir Recategorization

We are pursuing the re-categorization of the current forest national reserves of Sierra de Juárez (508,000 has) and Sierra San Pedro Mártir (310,200 has) as National Resource Protection Areas (NRPA). Read more »

San Quintín-El Rosario And Colonet-Eréndira Corridors

These corridors, stretching from the coast to the 600 meter contour (approximately where coastal scrub is replaced with chaparral) have been identified as a terrestrial conservation gap in Mexico. Read more »

ADESU – Empowering Indigenous Communities - COMPLETED

ADESU is a collaboration between indigenous communities, non-profit organizations, government agencies and individuals from both sides of the border that promotes sustainable development for the preservation the cultural and natural heritage of the native communities of Baja California. Reforestation - COMPLETED

In Ejido La Huerta (a Cochimi community) 74 acres were reforested for subsequent commercial use of Yucca Shidigera. Read more »

Temporary employment program for Indigenous Communities - COMPLETED

Since November 2001, in conjunction with the Department of Wildlife of the Secretariat of Environmental and Natural Resources, we coordinated three conservation projects, in three different indigenous communities, as part of the Temporary Employment Program. Read more »

Greenhouse restoration - COMPLETED

In San Jose de la Zorra (a Kumiai community) we coordinated the restoration of a greenhouse with more than 5,000 willow saplings (salis gooddingii) and over 5000 rush sprouts (Juncus acutus). Read more »

Reintroduction of the California Condor in the Sierra San Pedro Mártir - COMPLETED

Con la colaboración del Centro de Investigaciones Científicas y Educación Superior de Ensenada, el Instituto Nacional de Ecología. Este proyecto fue iniciado por el Zoológico de San Diego, Ca. y posteriormente se aprobó la reintroducción de seis ejemplares a Baja California. Read more »

Restocking of Yucca Shidigera - COMPLETED

At Misión Santa Catarina (a Pai Pai community) 98.8 acres ofYucca shidigera were reforested and a stream bed was de-silted for irrigation. Read more »
